Parnassos Concert Hall "Fiamma amorosa...in the time of Baroque" Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta Conductor: William Kunhardt
Intermission Ottorino Respighi: Antiche Danze ed Arie: Suite No.3, P.172 Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta from Esthonia, with multiple performances at international festivals all around Europe, will give a concert at Parnassos Literary Society Hall, on Monday 15th of December, at 20.30 (pm) under the conductorship of young British conductor William Kunhardt. The orchestra, distinguished for its vividness and virtuosity in the performance of pieces from baroque era until those of contemporary creators, will collaborate with two preeminent singers, soprano Arete Teements and countertenor Nikos Spanatis, on a program of arias of unique expressiveness and virtuosic demands, by Vivaldi, Händel and Respighi. In this evening, which is dedicated to the flame of love, anger and unfulfilled love, the audience will have the opportunity to travel with the “unrefined” vitality and unpredictable contradictions of baroque music, with Antonio Vivaldi and the short instrumental piece Concerto alla rustica, the exciting violin and cello concert RV 547 and the fascinating aria Vedro con mio diletto of Anastasio from the opera Giustino. Subsequently, a short impressionistic taste from also Italian Ottorino Respighi who, influenced by the entrancement of Renaissance and baroque, composed mainly instrumental works, operas (La fiamma) and among others the standout piece Antich Danze ed Arie: Suite No. 3 with a brilliant, rich and colorful orchestration. Hereupon, well known arias and duets from the operas of Georg Friedrich Händel, inspired by Greek-Roman history and ancient Greek mythology. From Julius Caesar, we will hear Cleopatra’s aria Piangerò la sorté mia mourning for her wrongful life and the aria Da tempeste il legno infranto singing for her happiness, additionally the frustrated aria of Arsace Furibondo spira il vento from the opera Partenope, the lovely adieu duet Io t' abbraccio e più che morte of Rodelinda and Bertarido from the opera Rodelinda, as well as the impressive and virtuosic duet, Mira adesso questo seno più sereno of Arianna and Teseo from the opera Arianna in Creta.
