"Abendmusik" Christmas concerts at the Historical venue of St Paul’s Anglican Church
Christmas tradition of the 17th century, which started at St Mary’s church at Lübeck town, under the initiative of organist and composer Dieterich Buxtehude, relives for the second time this year at the historical venue of St Paul’s Anglican Church at Syntagma. In three Christmas concerts which will take place on Friday 18th (one concert) and Monday 21st (two concerts), embracing the greatest night of the year, we open the doors to Light and we invite people to pray, sing, feel emotional, rejoice, forgive, love again, get prepared for the Christmas celebration. |

Christmas masterpiece songs from religious works of composers of Renaissance and Baroque eras, such as Grandi, Purcell, Händel, Bach and Anonymous, as well as Christmas melodies of English music tradition will be performed by renowned artists Nikos Spanatis, with his special counter tenor voice and Katerina Któna with her gentle harpsichord and organ sound, creating a devout atmosphere of rare music feeling.
Counter tenor Nikos Spanatis has appeared in all great theatres of the country and has cooperated with all Orchestras and baroque ensembles in Greece. Hapsichordist Katerina Któna, one of the pioneers regarding the dissemination of early music in Greece, has been awarded for her long and firmly significant contribution in this area. Both artists have collaborated repeatedly in the area of Early Music with special programs from the Elizabethan period up to the late Baroque, with great success.
