Some of the most beautiful arias and duets from the most popular operas of famous composers will be performed at Opera Gala of Thessaloniki Megaron Concert Hall. The program includes virtuosic duet of Ariadne and Theseus from baroque opera Arianna in Creta by Haendel as well as the charm of Greek myth Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck, with Orpheus’ touching aria and the fiery duet of the hero and his beloved Euridice. Well known duets from Mozart’s operas will also be performed, such as the one of Sifare and Aspasia from Mitridate, Re di Ponto, and that of the Count and Susanna, from Le Nozze di Figaro, however the night is about to have an even more assertive Italian taste from Bel Canto’s exponents, with Donizetti and the opera Linda di Chamounix as well as Rossini and the two special operas, Tancredi, an opera for which it is rumored that its beloved melodies were sung by Venetian gondoliers, and Il Barbiere di Siviglia, with Rosina and Figaro’s beloved duet. The audience will travel to ancient exotic Ceylon with Bizet and Les Pêcheurs de Perles and to ancient Egypt with Pharaoh Akhenaten and his invocation of the supreme god - creator, Aten, god of the Sun, from Philip Glass’ opera, Akhenaten. Supreme romantic mood with Verdi’s comic opera, Falstaff, Violet’s virtuosic aria from renowned La Traviata and French opera Faust by Gounod, as the program climaxes with “Champagne Ensemble” from famous operetta Die Fledermaus, by the “King of waltz”, Johann Strauss.
