Around the piano 11th edition Europe for Festivals
St Paul's Anglican Church 27, Philhellinon str., Athens
21 & 24 October 2016, 20:30 Artistic Director: Alexandra Nomidou
In the venue where it first opened its doors to the public, St Paul's Anglican Church in Athens, "Around the Piano" festival returns for two concerts on 21st and 24th October 2016, passing to its second decade since its first concert in 2005. Being consistent with its appointment with the Athenian audience, as well as its own values, the Festival offers two special concerts, full of unique musical moments having invited not only top internationally acclaimed Greek musicians, but also foreign soloists, who are going to perform virtuosic pieces, such as Trio in D minor by Russian Romantic composer Anton Arensky, two elegiac rhapsodies for piano solo by Johannes Brahms, but also intensively emotional works, such as the dreamy song "L' heure exquise" by Reynaldo Hahn and the multiperformed Greek folk song "Anikse yiati den antecho" (Open [the door] because I cannot hold on) by Yannis Papaioannou, among many others...The only thing which remains for us is to sit carefree for a while "around the piano" and trust its keys to lead us where the music prevails.. |
